Special
Inspections - History
Since 1989, the
Connecticut State Building Code has required that most building
construction be subject to “Special
Inspection”. After several tragic building collapses
in the 1980s, notably the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Kansas City
and L'Ambiance Plaza in Bridgeport , the State of CT Building
Code adopted Special Inspection provisions to increase public
safety by mandating a new and higher level of quality assurance
during construction.
